Nachiketa Prize For Journalism

I didn't know there was an award like this...... "Nachiketa Prize For Journalism, it rewards forthrightness, courage, and dedication to truth in this profession."..hhhmmm interesting.... very interesting.....

The Award Is Given To An Outstanding Journalist And Carries A Citation And A Cash Prize Of Rs 1 Lakh. The Award is instituted By Himachal Pradesh'S Paanchjanya Nachiketa Sanmaan Nirnayak Mandal (Pnsnm).

Some excerpts that i'm gathering will form the rest of my post.

Last week, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy L K Advani conferred upon Francois Gautier.

With the prize money, he and his wife Namrita have been organising a series of exhibitions in India and abroad about the plight of the Kashmiri Pundits in Kashmir, Hindu and non-Muslim Genocide in Bangladesh and other aspects/issues of cultural and political history that have affected and continued to affect the security and lives of Hindus of majority in India.


Eminent Journalist "Bhagwati Kumar Sharma", A Senior Editorial Member Of India's Second Oldest Newspaper - "Gujarat Mitra", Is The Recipient Of The Prestigious Nachiketa Award For 1999 For His Contribution To "Vernacular Journalism".

In 1998 The Award Was Given To "Cho Ramaswamy", Editor Of Tamil Magazine "Tughlaq".
