Instant Coffee - Bru Ice Cappuccino

Nikhil n I had gone to Sector 18, Noida market [during lunch... don't get any weird ideas when u read this.....] to pick up some ingredients for a Banana Chocolate Milkshake [a recipe I saw on the program Nigella's Kitchen on Discover, travel and Living, which incidentally turned out to be a great hit].
At the check out counter, we saw a pack of 5 sachets, of the 4 new flavours of BRU Ice Cappuccino. Just the right placement for impulse purchases..... [ ;-) yupp... have read some books......]

It was available in four flavours – Irish crème, Mochaberg, Berry Blast, and Chocomint.

Now we wanted to try them all but were confused as to which one would be good, since the packs placed there were really large.

Was sure that "
Irish crème and Mochaberg" would be safer bets..... Also wanted to try out the new flavours of "Berry Blast and Chocomint"......

The guy at the counter said he had single sachet's too, jumped up and produced them in a jiffy..... [helpful people in large stores are good catalysts for people like us, who end up purchasing stuff which we don't really intend to purchase at the onset... ;-) ] We decided to take 1 sachet of each flavour.......

Came back to office n decided to make all of them in the evening.

Shared it with Snigdha, Lalit and Nikhil.

The packet said "The single serve sachets include coffee, milk and sugar in a pre mixed powder, sufficient to make one refreshing cup of delicious Ice Cappuccino. The creamy & frothy cappuccino can be prepared in seconds by adding 170 ml (a cup) of chilled water."

Now, how the hell were we to measure 170ml of water in office......... what an odd measurement to have...... They tried their best to be precise... but then......

Lalit's bright idea..... He said check out the size of the "nimboo pani" available at the snack counter in office [the label would say how much ml they are selling.... very bright, i must admit] , see how much of it fits in the glasses available in the canteen........ we could get an effective estimate of 170 ml of water.......

Snigdha conjured up a stirrer...... Nikhil provided some newspaper so that we don't mess up our work stations.... [ had to be neat n tidy else Mr Admin would have my neck if head heard, saw or found any traces of food stuff at our work stations..... ;-) ]

So we had all the flavours......
If I had to rank them, would say.....

1. Berry Blast - for the sheer innovation in the taste
2.
Mochaberg - just love mocha flavour....
3.
Irish crème - the classic
4.
Chocomint - was close to "After Eight" sort of taste...

This ranking doesn't mean chocomint wasn't good. They were all really good. Would recommend them all. This list is just a forced ranking [there goes the Product manager in me.... :-) ] of the available options....

We really freaked out on them......

The only disappointing thing was that we were expecting lots of froth like the ad.... but that was a bit of a let down....
Check out the ad at http://www.archive.org/details/NewBruIceCappuccino

I read, that Karan Johar had launched these flavours some time in the middle of May and did a promotion with Adlabs. Read the Indiainfoline article here and the agencyfaqs article here.

Go try them.... n let me know what you thought of them.....

I think the berry blast was great! 170 ml was fine...but the chilled element was missing! Had it been chilled im sure we would have forgotten the starbucks and costas of the world! Btw the starbucks frappuccino was like the bestest thing related to cold coffee that ive had in years! sachi....but thanks for the instant refresher on a dull friday evening!
